Tyler Ulis . 19. player. 73. This is the Nuggets third pick in the 1st round and after selecting Buddy Hield and Domantas Sabonis, they could take a chance on diminutive point guard Tyler Ulis. The Nuggets have two point guards on their roster heading into 2016-17 in Emmanuel Mudiay and the aging Jameer Nelson, however Nelson has been open about wanting more playing time and being open to a trade if that isn’t in the cards for him. If the Nuggets do decide to deal Nelson, then Ulis is a solid backup or third point guard option.
Ulis took full advantage of becoming a starter his sophomore season posting averages of 17.3 points and seven assists and just a hair under two turnovers a night. Ulis was the engine pushing the Wildcat machine and in many ways he was the perfect point guard for Murray and Skal — who will likely both be selected prior to Ulis.

My main concerns with Ulis are his size and his lack of shooting ability. It’s not so much that he can’t shoot but he’s just not as efficient as he will need to be more an undersized guard. Last season he shot 43 percent overall and 34 (4.6 attempts) percent from 3-point land. He’s listed at 5-9, 160 pounds so opposing guards will almost always have a size advantage over Ulis, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in intelligence. He runs the pick-and-roll with tons of success and he can definitely be a solid guard off the bench for Denver.

To read more about Tyler Ulis, <a href=. PG. Kentucky
