4. 2001 NBA All-Star Game

The 2001 season was by far the best of Iverson’s career. By 2001, AI had already established himself as an unbelievable talent, as well a great draw at the gate. After leading the Sixers to an impressive start to the season, Iverson was named a starter in the All-Star Game, making his second consecutive All-Star Game appearance. He actually finished as the third leading vote-getter in the contest, behind only Vince Carter and Shaquille O’Neal.

Trailing 95-74 with only nine minutes left in the game, Iverson took over, scoring 15 points and leading the East to an improbable 111-110 victory over the West. AI would finish with a game-high 25 points while also leading the East with five assists. It was a signature moment in his career, and would be a major highlight in an incredible season.

Aside from winning the All-Star Game MVP, Iverson would also capture the NBA MVP at the end of the season as he led the 76ers to a Finals appearance against the Los Angeles Lakers. He also led the league in scoring and steals, while being named to his second All-NBA First Team. It would also be the year he started wearing his signature sleeve, which originally was used to combat bursitis in his elbow. Many current NBA stars still use the sleeve to this day.

Iverson would go on to win the All-Star Game MVP once more in 2005, as he posted a double-double, scoring 15 points while dishing out 10 assists. However, it was no comparison to his night in Washington D.C., when he took an undermanned East team and carried them on his small shoulders.
