Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 9 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers (5,000): Lucroy has been baseball’s most productive catcher this season. He leads all catchers in hits (62), average (.310), home runs (nine) and RBIs (28). He’s expensive, but at this point he’s the only catcher that’s consistently worth paying up for. He gets a matchup Thursday with Bartolo Colon, against whom he is 4-for-6 in his career.
Evan Gattis, Astros (4,200): The hard-hitting Gattis has now gone hitless in his last three games, but he has a nice chance to end that drought Thursday against Texas Rangers lefty Martin Perez (4-4, 3.24 ERA). Gattis is 5-for-9 in his career against Perez and is hitting .314 against lefties, 120 points higher than against righties.
High Value
Matt Wieters, Orioles (3,300): The switch-hitting Wieters has fared better against right-handers (.311) than left-handers (.206) this season. The Orioles face AL East rival Toronto and young starter Marcus Stroman (5-2, 4.82 ERA), who has had ups and downs this season. Wieters is 2-for-5 with a home run in his career against the Blue Jays righty.
J.T. Realmuto, Marlins (3,200): Realmuto has hit safely in his last four games and he continues to have success against right-handed pitchers. He’s hitting .333 against righties, compared to just .171 against southpaws. The Marlins face Minnesota Twins veteran righty Ervin Santana (1-5, 4.50 ERA) on Thursday.
