Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 9 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jose Altuve, Astros (5,400): Surprise, surprise. Another day, another great matchup for Altuve. The Astros All-Star second baseman is, more or less, matchup-proof at this point, but when he draws a matchup with a lefty he’s dominated in his career, like Texas’ Martin Perez (7-for-18, five extra-base hits), it’s simply too good to pass up.
Robinson Cano, Mariners (4,400): Cano has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, including consecutive two-hit outings. He’s tied for third in the American League in home runs (16) and second in RBIs (48). On Thursday, he’ll face Cleveland Indians righty Josh Tomlin, against whom he is 5-for-14 with three extra-base hits in his career. Cano is a nice pivot play off Altuve.
High Value
Rougned Odor, Rangers (4,000): In the five games he’s played since returning from his suspension for decking Jose Bautista, Odor has six hits. He should be able to add to that total Thursday when the Rangers go up against Astros right-hander Collin McHugh (5-4, 4.97 ERA). Odor is 4-for-13 with a double in his career against McHugh.
Jason Kipnis, Indians (3,600): Kipnis’ price tag remains low compared to his talent level, and daily fantasy players should jump on it Thursday. Kipnis is hitting 70 points higher against righties than he is against lefties this season, and the Indians draw Seattle Mariners righty Nathan Karns (5-2, 4.23 ERA) on Thursday. It also helps that Kipnis is 4-for-9 with a trio of extra-base hits against Karns.
