The MLB is finally handing down penalties on the brawl that broke out between the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. After Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura hit Orioles third baseman Manny Machado in the numbers with a 99 mph fastball, Machado charged the mound and hit Ventura with a solid punch to the face.

Benches would clear and a melee would ensue on the field between the two teams. According to Bob Nightengale, Machado has been suspended four games and will be fined $2,500 for his part in the brawl.
Nightengale also is reporting that Machado is expected to appeal his suspension.
While the $2,500 is pennies to Machado and teammate Adam Jones has already said that he will cover the fine, the four games is where the Orioles are going to miss him if the suspension is indeed upheld.
The team is in a battle for first place and although it’s a long season and plenty of baseball is left to be played, those four games could mean the difference between making the playoffs or not at the end of the season.
Machado has been huge for the Orioles this season and his bat has been phenomenal.
