Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman is coming out for the fans and saying that cities shouldn’t have to pay for billion dollar stadiums.
People have thrown plenty of venom at Richard Sherman in recent years, but it can’t be denied that the former Stanford honors graduate and member of the Seattle Seahawks is smarter on his worst day than plenty of people are on their best. There is a decent chance that he could some day hold political office if he wants to.
During a recent radio interview, Sherman had some fun with questions about what he would do if he were President of the United States (a timely topic in an election year). The outspoken leader of the ‘Legion of Boom’ touched on an important topic that could decide who wins this election: public funding for stadiums.
When it comes to the issue, Richard Sherman firmly has his position picked out:
"“I’d stop spending billions of taxpayer dollars on stadiums and probably get us out of debt and maybe make the billionaires who actually benefit from the stadiums pay for them. That kind of seems like a system that would work for me.”"
You can laugh it off as something that isn’t that big a deal, but you could take it to the bank that either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump could sweep places like Miami, Cobb County, GA or any other locations where teams are playing in stadiums that their billionaire owners didn’t have to spend much to get built.

For the record, Sherman plays his home games in a stadium that was built with nearly $300 million in taxpayer money (while the Seahawks are owned by one of the top 45 richest people in the world), so he knows what he is saying from first hand experience!
