Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura has been suspended nine games for throwing at Manny Machado and fighting.

After Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado and Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura got into a brawl on the baseball field, the league has come down on both players today with suspensions and fines.

First, Bob Nightengale reported that the league was suspending Machado for four games. It appears the league is also coming down heavy on Ventura, who has made a habit of throwing at guys on the field.

The MLB officially announced on Thursday, that Ventura would be suspended nine games for his role in the brawl.

While it appears to be a heavy suspension for Ventura and will dock him some serious money, it is sort of light compared to Machado. For Ventura, nine games is just one start to him, while Machado will be missing four starts in the field.

Is this suspension fair to both sides or did one side get it harsher than the other? That will ultimately be left up for debate, but the MLB didn’t go easy on either player in this incident.
