Identifying the top high salary and value third base plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 10 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Nolan Arenado, Rockies (5,600): Arenado is incredibly expensive, but on paper, he’s one of the top plays of the day. He’s 7-for-20 with a pair of doubles in his career against San Diego Padres starter Andrew Cashner. He’s hitting an impressive .327 at home, compared to just .271 on the road. Arenado is a viable play every time at Coors Field, but that looks especially true on Friday.
Matt Carpenter, Cardinals (5,000): Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Gerrit Cole (5-4, 2.85 ERA) is one of baseball’s best young pitchers, but Carpenter has had little trouble against him. Carpenter is 9-for-24 with three home runs against Cole and is hitting .301 against righties this season. Carpenter, like Arenado, is pricey, but looks like a strong play.
High Value
Travis Shaw, Red Sox (3,500): Shaw gets overshadowed by the other stars in the Boston lineup, but the 26-year-old third baseman is quietly having a nice season. In particular, he’s hitting .301 against right-handers. This bodes well for his matchup Friday against Minnesota Twins starter Tyler Duffey (2-4, 4.79 ERA).
Maikel Franco, Phillies (2,700): It’s tough to recommend anyone against Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg, but Franco has had limited success against him in the past. Franco is 3-for-7 with a home run against Strasburg. He’s best viewed as a GPP play, given his matchup with Strasburg, but for such a discounted price, Franco is worth a look.
