5 reasons Myles Garrett can win the Heisman Trophy

4. Texas A&M could compete in the SEC
In 2012 the Aggies were the new team in the SEC, and they also featured a new head coach in Kevin Sumlin. That season they were an impressive 11-2, but they have fallen off some since then with a 9-4 season followed by two 8-5 campaigns.
This season offers new hope for A&M to compete for two reasons, one being a new offense led by a couple of experienced transfers from Oklahoma. Quarterback Trevor Knight comes over from OU after losing the starting spot to Baker Mayfield, and brings Keith Ford with him to man the running back spot.
These two will highlight Sumlin’s offense, which should be improved from last year. They don’t need to be as explosive as the 2012 team led by Johnny Manziel, instead, they just have to be efficient.
The reason they only need efficiency is because of the second part of their potential improvement, a stout defense. This of course would be the unit Garrett leads, and should he lead them to being one of the best in the nation on his side of the ball, a Heisman run could ensue.
They don’t have to win the SEC to get Garrett in Heisman talk, all they really need is to be contenders that get the media attention. This season, they have the team that could do that.
