3. Players around him will help him shine

Myles Garrett won’t be alone in helping Texas A&M feature a tough defense. Lining up opposite him will be a pass rusher who excels in his own right, Daeshon Hall. At 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds, Hall is coming off his best season where he recorded 54 tackles, 14.5 for a loss and 7.5 sacks as a junior.

The other linemen need to step up their game as they will start defensive tackles Kingsley Keke, a 320-pound sophomore with just eight career tackles and the talented Daylon Mack. As for Mack, he is a 330-pound lineman who has a knack for getting in the backfield (he recorded 9.5 tackles for a loss) but struggles with his consistency and fundamentals.

The linebackers are looking improved and the corners are about average. However, where the team really can shine outside Garrett and Hall will be the safeties. Armani Watts and Justin Evans are as talented as any other safety combos in the SEC and can help close passing lanes to give Garrett a little longer to get to the passer.

If the Aggies are able to make noise this season, this unit will be the reason. That will of course put even more attention on Garrett as he aims to become the Heisman Award winner when the season is over.
