ST. LOUIS, MO - SEPTEMBER 30: Referee Mike Carey

Former NFL official Mike Carey will no longer be giving his opinion on calls during NFL games on CBS.

AFC games on CBS have become a staple of life for fans watching the NFL on TV every Sunday. Whether it’s listening to Jim Nantz call a game, Tom Brady throw a pass or Mike Carey chime in during a review on a play, there is just something about NFL on the network.

However, it appears that Carey will no longer be imparting his wisdom during reviews on CBS. On Saturday, CBS Sports officially announced that they and Carey had parted ways.

Carey had sort of become the joke of many over recent years, as he had developed a penchant for making the incorrect call on how he thought refs would decided on a judgment. This led to people keeping a tally of how many times he was wrong and it eventually became so staggering that it was turned into a staple of weekly drinking games among fans.

While Carey spent many years as an official and now most recently with CBS Sports as an officiating expert, it’s clear that he has decided to move onto something else.
