Coastal Carolina Chanticleers vs. LSU Tigers

College baseball’s elite and the LSU Tigers have been essentially synonymous for quite some time now. The fellows from down in Baton Rouge have continued to churn out successful season after successful season and that was the case in 2016 leading up to the NCAA Baseball Tournament. As LSU hosts the Baton Rouge Super Regional, though, they are looking to stave off elimination in Game 2 on Sunday at Alex Box Stadium as a dangerous Coastal Carolina Chanticleers team is here to play.

There was no pitching duel or anything of the sort as Coastal Carolina was able to take Game 1 from LSU on Saturday night. Connor Owings and Zach Remillard came up huge for the Chanticleers as they combined to go 5-9 with four RBIs and four runs scored plus a walk. LSU didn’t play poorly by any means, but the bats of Jake Fraley, Antoine Duplantis, and Kramer Robertson just weren’t as alive as those for Coastal. On Sunday, they’ll have to be, though, or LSU will be staying at home while the Chanticleers head to Omaha for the College World Series.
