Here are the updated NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase standings after the 2016 FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Joey Logano no longer has to worry about whether or not he’s going to be competing for a Sprint Cup Championship this season. On Sunday, Logano won the 2016 FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway and in doing so, Logano became the 10th driver on the season to clinch a spot in the Chase.
That means that now only six spots remain in the Chase and with how many new drivers have been winning in the last seven weeks, these spots could go very quickly. That means that there is no margin for error for certain drivers.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has yet to win a race on the season and he was involved in a wreck on Sunday. If he is going to make the Chase, he is going to be better served getting a win, which is much easier said than done at this point. Playing the points is a risky thing right now with how many new drivers are pulling off wins.
With Logano earning his spot into the Chase and the race tightening up even further, here are the updated Chase standings after the 2016 FireKeepers Casino 400.
