Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 13 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks (5,100): Goldschmidt has reached double digits in fantasy points in five of his last seven games and has 12 hits total over a seven-game hitting streak. This should come as little surprise — “Goldy” has been one of baseball’s best players for years now. But he’s rounding into elite form again, and Monday’s matchup against Los Angeles Dodgers righty Mike Bolsinger is one he can exploit.
Miguel Cabrera, Tigers (4,300): “Miggy” is rarely ever a bad play, but he certainly stands out as one of the best on Monday’s slate. He’s hitting .335 against right-handers this season, and now gets a matchup with new Chicago White Sox pitcher James Shields, against whom he is 19-for-55 (.345) in his career.
High Value
Eric Hosmer, Royals (3,700): Goldschmidt and Cabrera are both solid plays, but so too is Hosmer — and at a more discounted price. The 26-year-old first baseman is on pace for career highs across the board this season, and his matchup Monday against Cleveland Indians righty Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 3.48 ERA) is an inviting one. Hosmer is 6-for-19 with three extra-base hits against Carrasco.
Justin Bour, Marlins (3,200): Bour has never faced San Diego Padres right-hander Colin Rea (3-2, 4.74 ERA), but his splits are impossible to ignore. Bour is hitting .247 with 10 home runs against righties, compared to .176 and zero home runs against lefties. The game Monday is in Petco Park, which contributes to Bour’s low price tag.
