Kentucky. Archie Goodwin. 22. player. 147.
Original pick: Mason Plumlee

It takes some real belief to put Archie Goodwin this high. On one hand, the former Kentucky guard has actually under-performed when compared to his draft slot. On the other, he is extremely young for this class and there are real signs of life.

Goodwin will turn only 22 years old in August, and he is a relative baby when considering he has three years of NBA experience. That fact, along with an uber-athletic and long frame for a combo guard, leaves reason to believe that he will continue to improve as an NBA player, even in a limited role.

However, Goodwin has not been very good to this point. He holds a career PER of 10.9 with a true shooting south of 50 percent, and even in his best season (2015-2016), Goodwin made only 23.2 percent of his threes. That is a glaring issue for a guard in today’s NBA, but even if he never matures into even a reasonable shooter, there are things to like.

Goodwin has the tools to become a stopper defensively, and he can handle the ball well enough to fake some time at point guard in a pinch. That combination (again, along with his age) could be tantalizing when evaluating him and, frankly, the rest of the players on the board can’t match his ceiling.
. PG/SG
