5 players Sacramento Kings need to target in NBA Draft
5. Buddy Hield, Oklahoma
Buddy Hield is a sweet-shooting guard who exploded on to the scene as a senior last season. Hield shot an impressive 47% from three-point range while averaging an incredible 25 points per game on the season.
Hield’s performance during his senior season made him an easy choice for the Naismith Award, given to the best player in college basketball. Hield is a three-point marksman who can also create his own shot and has some defensive upside. However, he will be entering the NBA at 22-years-old, and that is an issue for most teams who are always looking for raw upside.
He is what he is at this point, but Hield proved that he is a skilled basketball player who can make an impact at the next level. With outside shooting becoming more and more important, I feel strongly that Hield can at least make an impact as an outside shooter off of the bench.
Also, according to Chad Ford of ESPN, Kings GM Vlade Divac is “absolutely in love with Buddy Hield.” While I do not think trading up for Hield would be a strong move, if he were to be there when the Kings are on the clock at no. eight, I think Hield would be a strong selection for Sacramento.
Ben McLemore has not exactly nailed down the Kings’ starting two-guard spot, and Hield’s scoring ability would be a great addition to the mix in Sacramento.
