Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 14 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Evan Gattis, Astros (3,600): Gattis is in a bit of a funk, having tallied only one hit over his last seven games. Tuesday’s matchup, however, is an ideal opportunity for a breakout. He’s hitting .291 with five home runs against left-handers this season, so although he’s never faced St. Louis Cardinals southpaw Jaime Garcia, he’s in a good spot.
Nick Hundley, Rockies (3,400): Hundley’s playing time is not always consistent, so be sure to double check whether he or Dustin Garneau is behind the plate Tuesday against the New York Yankees. If it is Hundley, he’s an interesting option against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (6-2, 4.42 ERA).
High Value
Matt Wieters, Orioles (3,000): Typically, it isn’t wise to roster players that are going against David Price. But Baltimore’s switch-hitting catcher has had success against the Boston Red Sox lefty. Wieters is 15-for-47 (.319) with six doubles and a home run against Price. This is probably a play for GPPs only, but Wieters is one to watch.
Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers (2,800): We’re putting Lucroy here if, for no other reason, that you’ll likely not see his price drop this low again. Of course, he’s facing San Francisco Giants lefty ace Madison Bumgarner (7-2, 1.88 ERA), but Lucroy is 3-for-12 in his career against Bumgarner. He’s worth a roll of the dice if you’re looking to save at catcher.
