DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy baseball first base-June 14

Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 14 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Alex Rodriguez, Yankees (4,500): David Ortiz, Wil Meyers, Anthony Rizzo and Paul Goldschmidt are all more expensive, but “A-Rod” looks like the best bang-for-your-buck option at first base on Tuesday. He’s hit safely in eight of 11 games in June, and he gets an inviting matchup in Coors Field against struggling lefty Jorge De La Rosa (2-4, 8.81 ERA). In his career, Rodriguez is 2-for-5 with a home run against De La Rosa.

Brandon Belt, Giants (4,300): Belt has hit safely in 10 of his 11 games in the month of June. Over that same stretch, he’s homered three times, an encouraging sign that his power is on the upswing. He’s hitless in six career at-bats against Milwaukee Brewers righty Matt Garza, who is making his season debut on Tuesday. But Belt is hot, which counts for something.

High Value

C.J. Cron, Angels (3,400): Cron rarely explodes for monster fantasy outings, but he has hit safely in each of his last eight starts. That’s nice consistency, though the Angels’ struggles (2-8 in last 10 games) limit his upside. He’s hitting .273 against righties, so Tuesday’s matchup with Minnesota Twins right-hander Ervin Santana (1-6, 4.77 ERA) is a positive one.

Freddie Freeman, Braves (2,900): This price tag is simply way too low for a player of Freeman’s caliber. The Braves are awful this season, but Freeman (.250, 10 home runs, 21 RBIs) is doing as much as he can. He has four hits over his last two games and is hitting .270 against left-handers, making his matchup with Cincinnati Reds southpaw Brandon Finnegan an appealing one.
