Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 14 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jose Altuve, Astros (5,500): Let’s see — Altuve has hit safely in five straight games and 17 of his last 18 overall. He has five double-digit fantasy point totals in the month of June. He’s 6-for-13 in his career against St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia (4-5, 3.89 ERA). What’s not to love about this play? Altuve is pricey, but worth it.
Robinson Cano, Mariners (4,600): Cano’s career numbers against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi (2-for-8, one double) are OK, but for almost 1,000 less than Altuve, there’s a chance for major savings here. He’s hit safely in five of his last six games and is hitting an impressive .335 against righties this season.
High Value
Chase d’Arnaud, Braves (3,300): D’Arnaud is making the most of his opportunity this season with Atlanta, hitting .309 through 29 games so far. He’s never faced Cincinnati Reds left-hander Brandon Finnegan (2-4, 3.77 ERA), but he is hitting .333 against lefties this season, making him an interesting value play.
Whit Merrifield, Royals (3,200): Merrifield has hit safely in eight of his last nine games overall, and on Monday he hit his first career home run. Merrifield, who also has position eligibility in the outfield, has been a nice addition to Kansas City’s lineup this season. He’s 1-for-3 against Cleveland Indians starter Josh Tomlin (8-1, 3.48 ERA) and makes for a solid value play on Tuesday.
