Identifying the top high salary and value third baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 14 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Matt Carpenter, Cardinals (5,600): Carpenter has been on a tear recently, reaching double-digit fantasy points in seven of his last 10 games. The Cardinals are hot, having won five straight, and Carpenter has climbed to a tie for seventh in the National League in RBIs (42). He’s hitting .306 against righties, so Tuesday’s matchup with Houston Astros veteran Doug Fister (6-3, 3.34 ERA) also works in his favor.
Nolan Arenado, Rockies (5,600): It’s easy to recommend the NL leader in home runs (19) and RBIs (53), but it’s especially easy when he’s playing at home. Arenado is hitting .309 at Coors Field, compared to .271 on the road. He and the Rockies’ potent offense should have little trouble putting up runs against New York Yankees righty Nathan Eovaldi (6-2, 4.42 ERA).
High Value
Travis Shaw, Red Sox (3,100): Shaw has never faced Baltimore Orioles righty Chris Tillman (8-1, 3.01 ERA), but his numbers against right-handers this season (.293, six HRs) are solid. Tillman is having a solid season, so Shaw is perhaps best viewed as a GPP play. But his splits make him intriguing nonetheless.
Aaron Hill, Brewers (2,000): Hill is certainly not the safest play Tuesday, going up against San Francisco Giants left-handed ace Madison Bumgarner. But for the minimum price on DraftKings, you could do a lot worse. Hill is 10-for-40 (.250) with three doubles, two home runs and six RBIs in his career against Bumgarner. That’s not too shabby.
