Three reasons why Randy Carlyle is a bad fit for the Ducks
The Ducks would be very wise to not allow history to repeat itself by hiring Randy Carlyle to replace Bruce Boudreau.
Without question, the most important thing that the Anaheim Ducks have to do this offseason is find a head coach suitable to replace Bruce Boudreau. The Ducks are reportedly interested in bringing back an old friend to replace Boudreau in former head coach Randy Carlyle. Carlyle led the Ducks to the Stanley Cup in 2007 and was last seen coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs before he was fired midway through the 2014-15 season.
Bringing back Carlyle would be a bad decision by the Ducks. While Carlyle did lead the Ducks to a Stanley Cup title, his coaching methods quickly proved to be outdated as his team all but gave up on him during the 2011-12 season, which led to Carlyle’s departure from Anaheim. Going from Boudreau to Carlyle would be a huge step in the wrong direction for Anaheim. There’s a good reason why Carlyle didn’t have much success with the Maple Leafs.
Hiring Carlyle would set the Ducks back a few years just a year removed from reaching the Western Conference Finals. Here are three reasons why Randy Carlyle is a terrible fit for the Ducks.
