After months of speculation, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester United have agreed to terms on a one-year contract.

The highly sought after Swedish striker has been heavily linked to join Manchester United after his Paris St-Germain contract expired this summer, and have heated up even more since his former manager, Jose Mourinho, is in charge at Old Trafford.

ESPN’s Miguel Delaney is reporting that the two have agreed on a contract and the only thing that was holding them back was contract clauses.

United were really pushing to have this deal done right away, even though Ibra wanted to wait until after the Euro’s and focus on getting Sweden into the knockout stages. The team was even reported to surround Ibrahimovic while he was training with his national team in France, further showing how high up he is on their offseason target list.

This will be Ibra and Mourinho’s second outing together, after they won the Serie A 2008-09 with Inter Milan. Ibrahimovic will be a great addition to United, seeing that the fans and the team are growing tired of failed attempts to not only win the league, but qualify for the Champions League. Ibra brings a goal scoring ability that doesn’t look to be slowing down, considering he is 34-years-old.

Ibrahimovic would likely be United number one striker, but with French international Anthony Martial having a successful first season with the club, and 18-year-old England international Marcus Rashford showing that he too has a bright future, it could mean United play with two strikers up front. They could even give Rashford a rotating role so he can easily come into the first team full-time and also learn from one of the best in the world, Ibrahimovic.
