Everyone knows the names at the top of the lottery but who are the best NBA Draft prospects likely to be selected in the second round?

The NBA Draft is all about value. Stars are obviously the highest priority, and every NBA team is looking for guys who can be a core piece of their future. However, it’s arguably just as important to hit picks later in the draft. Whereas guys like Steph Curry and Karl-Anthony Towns will come along maybe once every few years, year after year, teams mine the second round searching for guys who can fill out their rotation and provide quality depth, without overextending their salary cap.

Second-round gems can come in all shapes and sizes. International draft-and-stash picks are always worth grabbing, especially if you can land a Manu Ginobili or Goran Dragic-type producer. You can also find college upperclassmen who may have limited upside but who can turn into valuable role players, like Shelvin Mack or Norman Powell. And every once in awhile, you can pick up that guy who may have a red flag or a game quirky enough to steer teams away, and that’s how you can end up grabbing Draymond Green or Chandler Parsons on a sub-$1 million contract.

The 2016 NBA Draft will feature an interesting middle third of the draft. The overall similarity of the depth of talent from about the 20th pick on means that there will be some interesting names that get pushed into second round territory. Now just three weeks away from draft night, let’s examine five of the more interesting prospects that could go in that second round — guys who aren’t getting a ton of love right now, but could find their way onto an NBA roster.
