Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

David Ortiz, Red Sox (5,500): Ortiz’s farewell season has been nothing short of brilliant. He ranks among the top five in the American League in average (.338), home runs (16) and RBIs (55). He’s been a viable DFS play virtually every night this season, and Wednesday is no different. “Big Papi” faces Baltimore Orioles righty Kevin Gausman, against whom he is 7-for-16 with a pair of home runs.

Wil Myers, Padres (5,100): After a recent stretch of six straight double-digit fantasy-point performances, Myers has cooled off a bit, going just 1-for-13 over his last four games. He should be able to get back on track Wednesday against Miami Marlins left-hander Justin Nicolino (2-3, 4.76 ERA). Myers is hitting .304 against lefties this season, making him a solid play.

High Value

Eric Hosmer, Royals (3,300): Hosmer has been consistently picking up hits, but he hasn’t been doing much else. He’s hit safely in 10 games in June, but has just one double-digit fantasy-point outing to show for it. Hosmer’s recent quiet stretch and Wednesday’s matchup with Cleveland Indians ace Corey Kluber (6-6, 3.65 ERA) have dropped his price. He’s worth a dice roll.

Ryan Howard, Phillies (2,800): At this stage in his career, Howard is a shell of his former self. He’s best served for GPPs only, but he’s an interesting play Wednesday against Toronto Blue Jays righty Marco Estrada. Howard is 4-for-11 with a homer in his career against Estrada, and all 10 of home runs this season have come against right-handers.
