Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox (5,000): Pedroia is on an impressive roll right now, having hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games. He’s one of the more consistent options across fantasy baseball, having tallied at least five fantasy points in 13 of his last 15 games. He’s 5-for-14 in his career against Baltimore Orioles righty Kevin Gausman, and represents the top second baseman on Wednesday.
Daniel Murphy, Nationals (4,900): Murphy is just 1-for-11 over his last three games, but he’ll likely be happy to see Jason Hammel (7-2, 2.36 ERA) on the mound Wednesday for the Chicago Cubs. Murphy, who leads the majors with a .361 average, is 6-for-11 with a pair of doubles in his career against Hammel.
High Value
Jurickson Profar, Rangers (3,100): The switch-hitting Profar was been quiet of late, going seven games without an extra-base hit. The matchup Wednesday against Oakland Athletics right-hander Sonny Gray (3-6, 5.34) could be tough, but Profar is hitting a staggering .408 against righties. That makes him an intriguing play.
Jean Segura, Diamondbacks (2,700): Segura, by virtue of his matchup with Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw (9-1, 1.52 ERA), is best viewed as a GPP play. But for such a discounted salary, he’s worth considering given his recent hot streak. Segura has 12 hits over his current six-game hitting streak. He’s a cheap dice roll in tournaments, but nothing more.
