player. 211.
Original pick: Jordan Adams

Amusingly, P.J. Hairston already landed with the Grizzlies, even if they did not take him in the 2014 NBA Draft. Hairston finished the 2015-2016 season in Memphis, playing in 18 games and making nine starts, and the results weren’t fantastic. In fact, none of Hairston’s results have been fantastic.

In 111 NBA games, Hairston boasts a lackluster 7.6 PER with a hideous 46% true shooting. For a player drafted, at least in large part, for his shooting prowess, that is a mess. Hairston converted 40% of his threes during his final college season at UNC, but since that time, his jumper has gone south, including a 29.5% clip at the NBA level over more than 400 attempts.

Those numbers indicate that this placement may be too high for Hairston, but this is a very talented player that also has some off-court issues. If (and it is a big “if”) he can keep himself in line, Hairston’s talents should come in handy at the NBA level, and in a league void of wing contributors, he has a relatively clear path to success.

He has to shoot better and stay out of trouble. Not a small combination of tasks.
. SG. North Carolina. PJ Hairston. 22
