Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 16 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Wilson Ramos, Nationals (4,400): Ramos is on a nice run right now, having homered four times since the start of June. He’s also hit safely in nine of his last 10 starts and, in the process, raised his season average to .335. Ramos is hitting .345 against righties, so Thursday’s matchup with San Diego Padres starter Erik Johnson (0-3, 7.71 ERA) is a particularly inviting one. Ramos is the most expensive catcher for a reason.
Brian McCann, Yankees (3,800): McCann’s season has been disappointing, there’s no denying that. He’s hitting just .215 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs. But a matchup Thursday against Minnesota Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (0-4, 6.49 ERA) could help him turn things around. Gibson, like most of the Twins’ roster, has struggled this season. McCann is 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs against Gibson. Advantage, McCann.
High Value
Salvador Perez, Royals (3,400): Perez’s career numbers against Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander are simply incredible — 21-for-44 (.477), seven doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs. That kind of long-term success is impossible to overlook. Perez, one of the game’s best catchers, also comes at a reasonable price. He’s the best value play on Thursday’s slate.
Yasmani Grandal, Dodgers (3,200): It’s best to consider Grandal for GPPs only. He simply hasn’t been consistent enough this season to warrant cash consideration, but it’s worth noting that four of his five home runs have come against right-handers this season. Milwaukee Brewers righty Junior Guerra has surrendered five homers in eight starts this season.
