Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Justin Verlander, Tigers (11,600): It’s an ugly day for pitchers, but Verlander stands out as one of the top options. He’s allowed three runs or less in six of his last seven starts. He’s also topped the 20-fantasy point mark in all seven of those outings. Kansas City is a tough opponent that doesn’t strike out a ton, but if you’re paying up for pitching, Verlander is the best bet.

CC Sabathia, Yankees (9,800): New York has been up and down this season, but Sabathia has quietly put together a great season. Sabathia had struggled mightily over the previous three seasons, but enters Thursday’s game with a 4-4 record and impressive 2.28 ERA. He’s a solid play against the American League-worst Minnesota Twins (20-45).

High Value

Scott Kazmir, Dodgers (8,500): Kazmir has been trending downward since his 12-strikeout, 35.90-fantasy point performance on May 25. His strikeouts and fantasy points have decreased in each of his last three starts, but he draws a start Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers rank second in the majors in strikeouts with 620, which equals more than nine per game. The upside is here for Kazmir.

Eduardo Rodriguez, Red Sox (6,500): We told you it was an ugly day for pitching. Rodriguez will be making just his fourth start of the season, but the last two weren’t so great — he posted a combined 3.05 fantasy points over them. On Thursday he’ll face Baltimore, against whom he made his season debut 16 days ago. Rodriguez shouldn’t be considered anything more than a GPP play.
