As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (5,500): Let’s be real — virtually all of the Red Sox batters will be popular plays on a short Thursday slate. But Bogaerts, even at this price, is simply too good to ignore. He’s hit safely in four of his last five games, with 12 hits total over that stretch. His .357 average leads the American League, and he’s 3-for-4 with two doubles in his career against Baltimore Orioles starter Tyler Wilson. What’s not to love?
Corey Seager, Dodgers (5,200): Seager has gone hitless in his last two games, but he has a nice chance to bounce back on Thursday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Junior Guerra (3-1, 3.31 ERA). Seager is hitting 14 points higher against righties than lefties, along with seven more home runs. He’s expensive, but an intriguing pivot off Bogaerts for GPPs.
High Value
Asdrubal Cabrera, Mets (3,400): Shortstop is light on strong value plays Thursday, so it’s one position to consider paying up for. However, Cabrera is an interesting option against struggling Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Juan Nicasio (5-5, 5.34 ERA). Cabrera is 2-for-8 with a home run in his career against Nicasio.
Ryan Goins, Blue Jays (2,400): This is nothing but a cheap GPP punt play. Goins is hitting just .182 this season, but if he draws the start against Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola (5-5, 2.98 ERA), he’s worth a long look. In his two previous plate appearances against Nola, Goins doubled and walked. All three of his home runs this season have come against righties.
