A Chicago Cubs fan was given a great reason to chug his beer during the Friday afternoon game at Wrigley Field.

The Chicago Cubs may be a tortured fan base, but the North Siders have been given much reason to cheer so far in 2016.

The Cubs improved to 45-20 today after a 6-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, giving fans even more reason to be excited about a special season in the making.

One fan in particular decided to celebrate in a manner that ended with him needing another beer.

Addison Russell came to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth when he hit a foul ball. This particular foul ball landed in a man’s beer cup, which he decided was good reason to down the beer with the excitement of a college freshman being handed a beer at a party.

There is also a close-up in GIF form that can get anyone excited for the weekend.

Russell proceeded to walk, giving the Cubs a 5-0 lead on a day when Jake Arrieta pitched and picked up his 11th win of the season.

The win gives the Cubs a 10-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals heading into Friday night’s slate of games. The key for the Cubs will be to keep the pace up while not burning themselves out, such as what we may be seeing in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors.

Cubs fans, such as the man who used a foul ball as an excuse to chug a beer that costs as much as two six-packs, are finally hoping this will be the year to celebrate a championship. The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908 and have not appeared in one since 1945.

Finally making it back to the Fall Classic and winning the series will give Cubs fans a reason to chug a beer that is a bit more exciting than just catching a foul ball.
