Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Wilson Ramos, Nationals (5,000): Ramos is on fire of late, having collected six hits over his last four games, including a pair of home runs. He won’t come cheap when the Nationals face San Diego Padres left-hander Christian Friedrich (3-1, 2.12 ERA) on the road, but few catchers can match Ramos’ numbers this season. He’s hitting .339 overall and .293 against southpaws.
Chris Iannetta, Mariners (4,800): Iannetta often goes overlooked in fantasy circles, but he has a great matchup Friday night against Boston Red Sox left-hander Roenis Elias. Iannetta is hitting .247 on the season, but that figure jumps to .344 against lefties. In what should be a high-scoring affair at Fenway Park, Iannetta is a top option.
High Value
Welington Castillo, Diamondbacks (4,000): Castillo is hitting over .300 in the month of June, but his power numbers have been lacking (zero home runs, three RBIs). “Beef Welington” has had tremendous success against left-handers this season (.365, five of his seven HRs), so the matchup with Philadelphia Phillies southpaw Adam Morgan (1-5, 6.33 ERA) is one he should be able to exploit.
J.T. Realmuto, Marlins (2,900): Realmuto has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, which has pushed his average to the cusp of the .300 mark (.299). He’s never faced Colorado Rockies righty Jon Gray (4-2, 4.70 ERA), but he is hitting an impressive .341 with two of his three home runs against right-handers this season. Realmuto doesn’t boast much power, but he’s a nice value option for a sub-3,000 price.
