The Lakers may be able to land a star for the 2nd overall pick

The Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise unlike any other, and they are in a place they hardly have ever been. They had failed to win 30 games for the third straight year, and somehow only the fourth in franchise history. The first time came in 1957, where they won 19 games. 19 was obviously the franchise low until last year when they put 17 wins.

It is most certainly uncharted territory, and Laker nation does not like it. They are in a position to turn it around, but the front office and the fan base want to turn it around faster.

The Lakers front office gave themselves a small time table to turn this thing around and have the team competing. With the number two pick in what is being called a two-player draft there are a lot of positives.

Of course they can make the pick, a 19-year-old stud to be in Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons. At the same time, with it being a two-player draft that pick becomes extremely valuable on draft day. Once the first pick is taken it becomes obvious where the Lakers should go. Everybody will know that they will need to acquire that pick, or jump the Celtics if they feel there is another player.

The Lakers do not have the most resources right now, but they can hold out on that pick and try to package it together with young players and future assets to see if they can build a team this offseason. There are still big name free agents for the Lakers to pursue, and to add an NBA ready piece can help in getting a big name to Los Angeles this summer.

That said, here are the 5 trades the Lakers should make.
