10 Best NBA Draft fashion decisions of last decade
By Jaylyn Cook
1. Devin Booker (2015)
Blue may be the warmest color, but for Devin Booker, it was the brightest and boldest. He wasn’t the only one who adopted wild colors during the 2015 draft, as D’Angelo Russell, Jahlil Okafor, and others got the memo as well.
Booker’s suit was about as blue as the sky, and knowing that the sky is the limit, it’s as if he literally embodied the old adage to properly kick off his professional career. His outstanding rookie season further proved that Booker’s potential is endless, and will (hopefully) continue soaring upward from this point on.
As we continue to watch the draft from now on, be sure to keep 2015 fresh in your mind as the players walk up to shake the Commissioner’s hand. This past year was undoubtedly a turning point for fashion, as more draftees have decided to eschew the standard colors and combinations and take the Nestea plunge in their own vividly eclectic styles.
Culminating with Ezekiel Elliot’s crop-top tux at the 2016 NFL draft, fashion itself has changed so much, that we’re probably going to see outfits that we never would have imagined seeing about 10 years ago. I predict the drafts are going to become the sports world’s version of the Met Gala or a Kanye West fashion show.
When, or if, we ever do reach that point, never forget that Devin Booker’s baby blue suit was one of the things that helped spark a fashion revolution at the NBA Draft.
