10. Rudy Gay (2006)

Before he was officially drafted into the NBA, Rudy Gay’s simple, yet sharp gray suit drew attention during his pre-pick interview. The former 8th overall pick responded rather humbly to all compliments, but deep down he knew that he was the best dressed of them all.

On the flip side, the worst suit of the evening was arguably attached to the body of Ronnie Brewer. That man legitimately showed up to New York looking like a bottle of Glacier Freeze Gatorade. He ended up paying for his faux pas by being forced to endure a lackluster playing career – a valuable testament to the fact that you should never cross the draft suit gods.

Continuing on the topic of lackluster careers, it should be noted that not only was 2006 one of the more forgettable years in terms of fashion, but it was also largely devoid of talent. Andrea Bargnani, Adam Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Shelden Williams, Patrick O’Bryant, and Mouhamed Sene were all top-10 picks. That is a historically unfortunate amount of L’s handed out in one night.

While Gay’s career may not have reached superstar status like many expected, he can at least take solace in knowing that he can still hoop at the pro level and has a strong talent for accessorizing.
