All of the rain on Thursday turned the Oakmont golf course at the U.S. Open into a huge puddle of water.

The 2016 U.S. Open saw a comical amount of rain hit the Oakmont Country Club during the first day of play on Thursday, June 16. It caused for the first round to be delayed until Friday. Thanks to some impressive work from the grounds crew, who had to work nearly around the clock to make the course playable, play will resume on Friday.

Here’s some of the downpour, per For The Win:

Rain caused the scores to be quite possibly even uglier than the scores. Andrew Landry emerged as the Thursday leader with a score of three under par. Bubba Watson came in second place with a score of two under par. Danny Lee finished Thursday tied with Watson with a score of two under par. Scottie Scheffler, Kevin Streelman, Lee Westwood, and Harris English were the only other golfers to finish Thursday under par.

Despite the awful scores and the rain, there is still a lot of time for the favorites such as Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Dustin Johnson to catch up to the top of the leaderboard. It will be interesting to see what kind of effect the weather will have on the rest of the US Open tournament and on the Oakmont Country Club.

One thing’s for sure: Thursday’s torrential downpour at the Oakmount Country Club will never be forgotten by those who witnessed it.
