Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison was arrested last month on domestic violence charges, and could face a year in prison if convicted.
The NBA is hot right now, as the Finals have turned into an epic showdown between the best player in the world, and arguably the best team in history. The last thing the league needs now is some off the court problems, but that is exactly what it is getting.
Sacramento Kings guard Darren Collison has been charged with domestic violence, with the charges stemming from a May 30 incident at his home. The Placer County (California) District Attorney office filed charges against the guard, after reviewing all the evidence. Based on the evidence, the DA feels that they can successfully prove this criminal case beyond a reasonable doubt.
On May 30, 2016, Collison was arrested at his home, after a woman reported being assaulted in the guard’s home. Upon arrival, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office could visibly see the woman had been assaulted, and arrested Collison.
The seven-year point guard will face two counts due to the incident: one count of domestic violence causing injury and one count of domestic battery of a spouse. Both of these charges are misdemeanors.
Collison has been married to Keyosha Sanders since 2011. TMZ reported that she was the one who was attacked, and the guard actually spit on her in a separate incident earlier in the night.
If convicted, Collison could face a year in jail.
