MLS: Orlando City pays tribute to Orlando shooting victims (Video)
With league play set to begin back up after their international break, Major League Soccer joined Orlando City SC in supporting the victims of the recent mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.
During Major League Soccer’s recent international break of play, the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States took place at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
On June 12, an American-born man who reportedly pledged his allegiance to the terror group ISIS entered Pulse — a gay nightclub in Orlando — and gunned down 50 people, while 53 others were injured in the shooting.
Support for Orlando was sent from all over the country and from many different sporting franchises. Michael Bradley, the United States Men’s National Team’s captain, wore a rainbow armband for the Orlando victims during the USMNT’s victory over Ecuador in the Copa America quarterfinals this past Thursday.
In support of one of their franchise, Major League Soccer took to social media to send a tribute to the victims of one of the worse crimes ever committed in the United States.
The minute-plus video was a sign of unity with the victims of Orlando and for Major League Soccer’s Orlando-based franchise, Orlando City SC, who will take the field on Saturday night against the San Jose Earthquakes.
The match between Orlando City and San Jose is the first major sporting event to take place in Orlando since the shooting six days ago.
