The city of Cleveland has a championship after 52 years of sadness as the Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA title and the fans celebrated like crazy at home

The Cleveland Cavaliers are your 2016 NBA Champions. That’s a sentence that the city of Cleveland has longed to see since they first drafted LeBron James 13 years ago in 2003. Now it’s finally a reality and, after 52 years, the city of Cleveland can say that one of their teams is a champion.

After waiting so long for the Cavaliers or for any one of their teams to win a title, it’s hard to imagine just how elated that the city were and that Cavaliers fans were after LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love were able to make this historic event happen.

Though we can’t pretend to know what it feels like, the live look-in that ABC/ESPN gave viewers of the watching party at Quicken Loans Arena gave everyone else a good idea of just how much this meant to them by how crazily they were losing their collective mind outside of the Cavaliers’ home arena:

Say whatever you like about LeBron James and the Cavaliers, but it’s impossible to deny how special of a moment this is. Not only is it LeBron finally getting a ring for his hometown team, but it’s also Cleveland getting to experience something other than ineptitude and sadness for once.

For once, Cavaliers fans and the city get to cry tears of joy. Enjoy it and soak it in.
