The Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA champions, but not even that can kill the LeBron James leaving narrative.
The biggest story in the sports world is one that we never thought we were ever going to hear. The Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA champions, but that isn’t enough to kill the seemingly immortal narrative that the LeBron James will leave.
Maybe this is a case of being scorned once and that pain never goes away — but it’s a narrative that is tyrant impede on LeBron’s most glorious moment of his career.
Stephen A. Smith stoked those coals, again, no less than 12 hours after the Cavaliers won the title by reminding us that he “reported” the Miami Heat will try to sign LeBron this summer. He also said that the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be in the mix to sign LeBron if he leaves Cleveland.

This is about the hottest take you can have right now, and Stephen A’s hands are numb to the burn of carrying these takes.
It’s not the most outrageous take to have though. LeBron has completed his mission — the prophecy has been fulfilled. He returned to Cleveland and delivered on his promise to bring a title back to his home state.
That’s about as far as that logic goes, though. It makes sense the same way that people who try to say Global Warming isn’t a thing because we still have really cold winters — it’s stupid.
Lest we forget that in LeBron’s letter announcing his return to Cleveland that he said he wants to raise his kids where he grew up. He wants to raise his family in Ohio and wants to stay put for once in his career.
Also, lest we forget that LeBron destroyed all bridges to Miami when he left and he’ll probably never mend that fence with Pat Riley. Beyond that, if you think that LeBron is going to play for that dumpster fire of a team in Los Angeles then you need to bury your takes in a box in the backyard.
LeBron James might have fulfilled the prophecy of The Chosen One in Cleveland, but that doesn’t mean his story ends. The achievement to see if it can be done has been taken care of, now it’s a matter of how many LeBron can win in Cleveland before his time in the NBA is over.
