The Milwaukee Bucks may have signed Greg Monroe just one year ago, but they are already looking to trade him.

The Milwaukee Bucks had an uninspiring 2016 season. They finished 33-49, and missed the playoffs. This was despite having rising, young players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker.

The Bucks also signed power forward Greg Monroe to be a key big man for them. The former Georgetown star had some productive years for the Detroit Pistons, which landed him a multi-year deal with Milwaukee last offseason.

However, it seems Monroe may be on the move once again, as Michael Scotto of AP is reporting that the Bucks are shopping six-year pro “hard”.

Finding a taker for that money would have been difficult in recent years, but with the NBA’s salary cap rising to $94 million, someone may be able to take on this contract. Monroe put up decent numbers in 2015-16, averaging 15.3 PPG and 8.8 RPG.

However, with free agency approaching, teams might want to have as much cap space as possible for players without teams. This could be in case there’s a bidding war for a free agent, or if a team feels like they can sign Kevin Durant.

Now that Greg Monroe is a trade candidate, it’s possible we see his name come up during Thursday’s NBA Draft. There are usually a few deals completed that involve both picks and players.
