Obama delayed Air Force One to watch Cavaliers win NBA Finals

President of the United States of America Barack Obama delayed his exit from Air Force One on Sunday to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers win the NBA Finals.

The President of the United States of America Barack Obama is a huge sports fan, particularly of his hometown Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Bears. Obama’s love for professional sports had him glued to his television set on Sunday night like many in America.

However, Obama was watching Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors on Air Force One, refusing to exit the jet until the conclusion of one of the most exciting games in NBA Finals history.

CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller tweeted out the image of the Obamas leaving Air Force One after a Game 7 that came down to the wire with Cleveland defeating Golden State on the road, 93-89, thanks to a game-sealing LeBron James free throw.

In a best-of-seven series that had consisted of blowouts in all six of the previous games, Game 7 was by far the most exciting, as either team could have won the 2016 NBA Championship in the final minute. President Obama couldn’t miss a moment of one of the greatest games in NBA Playoffs history and really, who could blame him?

This was Cleveland’s first professional championship in 52 years and Golden State was on the cusp of winning back-to-back NBA Championships on the heels of a record-setting 73-9 regular season.

Though the Cavaliers are bitter Central Division rivals of President Obama’s hometown Bulls, he had to felt happy for James as the Chosen One finally brought an NBA Championship home to Cleveland after being drafted by the Cavaliers No. 1 overall 13 years ago in the 2003 NBA Draft.
