4. Atlanta Hawks

If there ever is a chance for Dwight Howard to return home, it could be this year. The Atlanta native could be a strong possibility for the Atlanta Hawks if they choose not to re-sign Al Horford in free agency or if he signs somewhere else.

The Hawks are one of those teams in the Eastern Conference that is good enough to make a decent run in the playoffs, but not good enough to represent the conference in the NBA Finals.

There are a couple of ways for the Hawks to try and improve on their position. They could either trade in their spot and try to get better by rebuilding through young talent, which they could do depending upon certain roster moves, or going out and trying to get top players to stay competitive.

Howard wouldn’t be enough to move them out of the conference, but it could maybe get them back to the Eastern Conference Finals. If other players could develop and pieces fall in line, then they could have something brewing.

Having Howard and Paul Millsap up front would give the Hawks a fairly formidable duo. Add in the young Dennis Schroder at point guard and Atlanta would be a very exciting team to watch.
