Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 21 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Matt Wieters, Orioles (4,200): Baltimore’s switch-hitting catcher has six hits, including a home run, over his last two games and now draws a matchup with San Diego Padres righty Luis Perdomo (2-2, 8.79 ERA). Wieters is hitting .296 against right-handers, compared to just .195 against left-handers. He’s one of the catcher options available on Tuesday.
Brian McCann, Yankees (3,800): McCann has had some major ups and downs this season. Case in point: He went 3-for-4 with two home runs on Monday, his first hits since June 10 (nine days). He has a great chance to stay hot on Tuesday with the Colorado Rockies and righty Chad Bettis (5-5, 5.63 ERA) coming to town.
High Value
Chris Herrmann, Diamondbacks (3,300): Herrmann’s playing time can be sporadic, but when he’s in the lineup, he has produced. He’s hit safely in four of his last five starts, and could be in the lineup again Tuesday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada (5-2, 2.58 ERA). Herrmann’s probably best viewed as a GPP option.
James McCann, Tigers (3,000): McCann’s average (.198) is ugly, but he’s hit safely in four of his last five games. He’s also had success this season against left-handers (.250, compared to .167 against righties). Detroit faces Seattle Mariners southpaw James Paxton (1-2, 2.86 ERA) on Tuesday, so McCann stands out as an interesting option.
