Identifying the top high salary and value pitcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 21 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Jose Fernandez, Marlins (13,700): No surprise here. Fernandez is simply one of the game’s best young talents. He’s topped 30 fantasy points in five of his last seven starts, and should be able to do so again Tuesday at home against the last-place Atlanta Braves. Fernandez will be extremely popular, but he’s the best pitching option for Tuesday’s slate.
Corey Kluber, Indians (11,600): The former American League Cy Young Award winner’s season totals don’t look too impressive — 6-7, 4.23 ERA. But for fantasy purposes, Kluber is always a threat due to his strikeout upside. He’s topped 20 fantasy points in four of his last six starts, and now faces a Tampa Bay team that ranks fourth in the majors in strikeouts with 635.
High Value
Chris Sale, White Sox (8,700): Sale has probably the toughest matchup a pitcher can in 2016 — at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. But he’s also one of the baseball’s true aces, so he’s worth consideration if for no other reason than his price, which is unlikely to dip this low again this season. Sale is certainly worthy of a dice roll on Tuesday.
Ian Kennedy, Royals (7,700): Kennedy has struggled of late, giving up a combined 16 runs over his last three starts. He has a chance to bounce back Tuesday on the road against a banged-up New York Mets team that has lost three straight. This is certainly a GPP-only type of play, but it’s an ideal low-cost, high-upside pitcher to pair with the expensive Fernandez.
