Identifying the top high salary and value third baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 21 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (5,600): Donaldson won’t come cheap. In fact, he’ll cost 8,000 more than any other third baseman on the slate Tuesday. But the reigning American League Most Valuable Player has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, a stretch that includes eight double-digit fantasy-point performances. He’s hitting .290 against lefties and .310 overall at home, so a matchup with Arizona Diamondbacks southpaw Patrick Corbin (3-6, 4.76 ERA) at the Rogers Centre is ideal.
Nolan Arenado, Rockies (4,600): Arenado has hit safely in five of his last six games, but he hasn’t homered since last Wednesday. On Tuesday, he’ll get to face the same pitcher he took deep last week — Ivan Nova. Colorado’s lineup should be able to do some damage in the Bronx, and Arenado will be front and center.
High Value
Kyle Seager, Mariners (3,600): The lefty-hitting Seager has one of the most pronounced righty-lefty splits in baseball. He’s hitting .310 against right-handers, compared to just .194 against lefties. He’ll face Detroit Tigers veteran Justin Verlander (7-5, 3.87 ERA) on Tuesday. Despite Verlander’s solid season, Seager is 5-for-9 with four extra-base hits against him in his career.
Anthony Rendon, Nationals (3,400): Rendon has had his moments this season, but overall, he’s been a bit disappointing. His average (.250) would set a new career low, though he is hitting .306 against left-handers. That bodes well for Tuesday’s matchup with Los Angeles Dodgers lefty Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.64 ERA).
