Real Madrid have made it official. They will bring back Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.
After months of speculation, Real Madrid have exercised their buy-back clause on Juventus striker Alvaro Morata for €30 million. Madrid sold the Spanish international in the summer of 2014 for €20 million to the Italian giants, but made sure when they sold him, that they included an option to buy him back for a set fee.
Real Madrid made the move official on their website, stating that Morata will train with the first team, after they let Juventus know they will be exercising their buy-back option.
Morata appeared in 95 matches for Juventus in all competitions and scored 27 goals in the process. The 23-year-old was seen as an important signing for Juventus, after he scored a crucial goal for them in their 2014-15 Champions League Final run, but since then has been dethroned as their number one striker with the emergence of Paulo Dybala from Palermo last summer.
For month’s, rumours have linked Real Madrid to bringing back Morata to either bulk up their strike force or even sell him for a profit, since his value is likely going to increase after his Euro 2016 performance’s. He so far has two goals for Spain at this years Euro, scoring a brace against Turkey on June 17th.
It is not for sure whether they will actually keep him or sell him off, as they know they could once again make a profit. Morata has appeared in 53 matches for his boyhood club Real Madrid, but spent most of his time with their second team. Morata has been linked to a move to the English Premier League as well.
Morata does have the qualities to be a good striker for his club, but will need more consistency in his game if he wants to find a permanent home. If Madrid do decide to keep him, he would be an excellent back up for Karim Benzema.
