Now that he is under suspension, will Roman Reigns be in the main event of Battleground for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship?
Tuesday afternoon we were all treated to the news –some shocking news, at that– that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is suspended for 30 days following his first offense against the WWE Wellness Policy. Of course, with this, there are a lot of questions that people are asking.
One of the main questions, however, is whether or not Reigns will still compete in the main event of the next pay-per-view, Battleground, where he is slated to face off against Seth Rollins and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match for the title. With this news happening on Tuesday and Reigns being added to the main event on Monday night, this is a perfectly logical question to ask.
Well, according to WWE’s statement on the suspension, Reigns will be out of action immediately. WWE Battleground is on the 24th of July, so if you do the easy match here, Reigns will be making his return to television three days before the event. So, while it hasn’t been formally announced whether or not he will still be in the main event, it’s perfectly plausible that he will not lose his spot there. The only downside is that he will miss all of the TV time for the build.
Realistically, the only big event that Reigns will be missing during his time under suspension will be the WWE Draft, which will be held on July 19, the first evening that Smackdown will be aired live. So there’s still a lot to figure out as to his status when it comes to the draft.
But as for Battleground — Reigns can still be in there battling for the title upon release from his suspension. Now whether or not he will be, well, I guess we’ll find that out on Monday night.
