The Kings have a lot of options at pick number eight

The Kings have been front and center in trade speculations for seemingly two years now. That seems to be the price they paid for switching ownerships, and changing coaches like the months change on the calendar, all while trying to satisfy their super star. They have done a poor job at building anything around DeMarcus Cousins, and it has left him angry, on and off the court.

Having a top tier center who is angry tends to draw trade conversation. As they head into the 2016 NBA draft with the number eight pick, they also appear interested in moving it. This draft is not a strong one, and getting out of the lottery may be the most valuable play.

With two trade chips already, the Kings have mentioned that Ben McLemore could be had as well. This means they have a lot of different ways to pull off a trade. They should be exploring all avenues, and this is a team with the option to build for now with Cousins or to blow it up, and establish a future.

Whichever path they chose, this year will be extremely important in setting a tone and distinguishing that path. To float around with Cousins and no depth around him is a waste of time for the team and the star so they will need to be active.
