Conor McGregor loses his mind over Ireland win
By David Rouben
Ireland sealed their place in the Round of 16 with a victory, and Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor went mental on Twitter.
Ireland beat Italy 1-0 to make it to the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
Robbie Brady scored the lone goal in the 85th minute to seal the victory in what was one of the most famous nights in Irish football history.
It was a successful tournament for the entire British Isles, as every team got through. All of Ireland was celebrating, and one of their biggest stars in the world right now celebrated accordingly on Twitter:
Before the Euros began, McGregor was also used in a promo for the Ireland national team which will send chills down your spine:
Conor McGregor isn’t the only one from his gym celebrating, as his Icelandic sparring partner and lifelong friend Gunnar Nelson got to watch his team reach the knockout stage for the first time ever as well. While McGregor is hard at training for the Nate Diaz rematch, he’ll be taking a day off from training to celebrate the Boys in Green.
A massive opportunity awaits Ireland, as they will take on the host nation France in the Round of 16, with a chance to avenge Thierry Henry’s phantom handball that eliminated them in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
There’s hardly been a sure thing in the Euros this year, which it why it’s been so fun to watch. But one thing is for sure: Ireland aren’t here to take part, they’re here to take over.
