J.R. Smith wants your vote for President
By Jared Gosule
J.R. Smith wants you to know that you don’t have to vote for Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton.
J.R. Smith won his first NBA Championship this year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and nobody is enjoying the celebrations more than him.
He averaged 10.6 points per game in the Finals and was a major factor in helping Cleveland overcome the greatest regular season team in NBA history en route to the city’s first sports championship in 52 years.
Overcoming the Warriors was tough, but J.R. appears ready for an even bigger challenge: winning the Presidential election.
Okay, so maybe he just really liked a fan’s sign at the Cavaliers parade. Most people would probably say being President of the United States is the hardest job on the planet, but most people have never had to play for the Knicks. The age-old saying is that “shooters gonna shoot”. J.R. Smith is most definitely a shooter, so you never know.
With the Republican National Convention to be held in Cleveland this year, maybe J.R. could consider putting his name in the pot and exchanging an NBA title run for a run at the White House.
He may not be the hero that we deserve, but he could be the one we need.
